Humble Wildcat Band FAQs
Can I do sports and band at the same time?
YES! We have students in every single sport/activity on campus! Football, soccer, volleyball, Wildcatdets, baseball, choir, orchestra… all of them! We have many students who participate in multiple activities all four years of high school. We work very well with the other sponsors to make sure students are able to do whatever they choose.
The schedule looks so busy! Can I be in band and make good grades?
Definitely! MANY of our band students are enrolled in advanced academics, and we often have students that are Top 10 graduates. Band students take AP, IB, and Dual Credit classes all the time and do extremely well. Plus, band students have a built in support system. If you need help with work, there are always students who have been there and are able to offer advice!
Is Summer Band required?
Yes. Summer band rehearsal is common across all high school bands across the country, and it is when we teach everything you need to know about marching band and begin working on the marching show, stand tunes, and generally get a good jump start on the year. Not attending summer band will automatically make you an alternate marcher.
What if there is a conflict with the schedule?
All conflicts must be communicated with the directors. We are more than happy to do everything we can to resolve any schedule conflicts and come to the best compromise possible, but we must know with the most amount of notice possible!
What do I do if the cost is too much?
We never, EVER want cost to be the reason why someone is not in band. There is a bit of cost up front because there are so many items that must be ordered, but we will ALWAYS work with your timing and budget. You can take care of items a little at a time over time. Please communicate and financial concerns and we will always come up with a solution.
